Cable Glands, also known as cord grips or strain reliefs or dome connectors, are used to secure and protect the ends of power or communication cables entering equipment or enclosures. NPT stands for National Pipe Thread and is the standard thread used in the United States for pipes, fittings and other connections. NPT clamp is a clamp with NPT thread specification. It usually consists of a cylinder with internal threads that is screwed onto the external threads of a device or housing. Once the wire is inserted into the handle, it is held tightly by a nut or compression mechanism, which relieves strain and prevents the cable from being pulled out of the device or housing. NPT cord grips can be made from a variety of materials including plastic, metal or liquid tight, depending on the application and environment. They are commonly used in industries such as electrical, telecommunications, automation and manufacturing to ensure safe and reliable cable connections.
Liquid tight cable glands and cord grips are available in grey or black and come in metric or NPT threads. They are used to protect wiring as it enters electrical enclosures or cabinets. They can be used with threaded entry or with through holes. The metric sizes are IP 68 rated without sealing washers and are typically used for through whole applications. The NPT sizes do require sealing washers. Select the thread size and clamping range for your application. Lock nuts can be sold separately. Cable glands are mainly used to clamp, fix, and protect the cables from water and dust.
